De Beekforel komt verspreid in heel Europa voor, maar is op veel locaties ge\u00efntroduceerd. In Nederland kwamen tot in de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw nog zichzelf instandhoudende populaties van Beekforel voor. De forellen die tegenwoordig in Nederland worden aangetroffen zijn afkomstig van onbewuste (ontsnappingen vanuit kwekerijen) en bewuste (her)introducties.
